Sunshine Coast Beach Wedding at Marcoola Beach

By | Weddings | No Comments

Name: Megan and David

Ceremony : Marcoola Beach

Wedding Photography: Richard Grenfell Photography

Reception: Surfair Beach Hotel

What a beautiful wedding Megan and Dave had at Marcoola. The weather was postcard perfect. The ceremony was just a short walk from the hotel where Megan was staying right on Marcoola Beach.

It was a genuinely beautiful wedding. The first look was done at the ceremony where David turned his back and waited to see his bride for the first time. He was overwhelmed with emotion and I must say that I had a tear in the eye as well. There was a memorial for their grandparents who had recently  passed that was also very touching. Overall it was a ceremony full of love, laughter and tears and I felt  very privileged to be part of it.

After the ceremony we got some family photos and some creative photos. Then it was a short walk to the reception at the hotel. It was a great night with family and close friends and everyone had a good time. I love all the weddings I shoot but I felt especially privileged to be part of this one.

Sunshine Coast Beach Wedding at Caloundra

Name: Priscilla and Robert

Ceremony : Happy Valley, Bullcock Beach Caloundra

Reception: Kings Beach Tavern

What a great day was had at Happy Valley in Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast. Robert and Priscilla had been together for 37 years before they finally decided to tie the knot. They are from Brisbane and decided to get married where they had spent many family vacations. The ladies all got ready at Centrepoint Apartments that is an easy walk from Happy Valley. The apartment where the ladies got ready was a hive of activity and fun with lots of grandkids.

It was a unique wedding (for me). Priscilla was walked down the aisle by her grandson. The bridal party consisted of their children and grandchildren. The ceremony was right on the water and it was Priscilla’s vision to have a red and white theme.

The main priority for Robert and Priscialla was to get lots of photos of the kids. It was challenging and unpredictable but I certainly enjoyed the challenge of so many moving targets. I thank them both for letting me be a part of their joyous day.   Below includes photos of the children with permission from the families.

Name: Emily and Lachlan

Engagement Photo Location: Mooloolaba Beach

What a gorgeous day for an engagement shoot at Mooloolaba Beach. Emily and Lachlan chose this location specifically as this is where Lachlan proposed. In fact the photo with the fence visible is the exact location where Emily accepted the proposal.

Emily and Lachlan contacted me for a photo shoot to celebrate their engagement and are planning on using the photos for invitations and a guest book when they have their wedding next year.

It was a genuine pleasure to photograph these two. They are outstanding young people. The love they have for each other and how comfortable they are in each others company really shines through in the photos. I thank them for the chance to photograph their joyous occasion.

Sunshine Coast Kawana Beach Wedding

By | Weddings | No Comments

Name: Ian and Rose

Ceremony : Green Zebra Restaurant and Bar

Wedding Photography: Richard Grenfell Photography

Reception: Kawana Surf Club

What an awesome day it was for Ian and Rose’s wedding. After having been together for years they thought it was time to tie the know. They wanted a simple and intimate wedding. Their daughter was the Maid of honour who was more excited about the wedding than Ian and Rose !! Ian’s dad was his best man. Ian’s parents had flown in from the UK to attend. So it was just family and very close friends.

The wedding went beautifully. However when we went to the beach to get some photos of the couple and their friends it was blowing a gale. I can’t remember it being that windy for a long time. However we made the most of it and got some amazing images of Rose’s dress blowing in the wind.

The day finished with the reception at the Kawana Surf Club in the upstairs function room. This was more of a open affair with many of the friends that they had made since moving to the Sunshine Coast attending to celebrate their big day.

Ceremony : Happy Valley, Bullcock Beach Caloundra

Reception: Parklands Tavern

Wedding Stylist: Dream Wedding Ceremonies

What an amazing day we had in Caloundra. The weather was on again and off again with rain all morning while everyone was getting ready. After some anxious checking of the radar on the BOM website the decision was made to go ahead outdoors. It was beautiful. The rain stopped and sun came out for that period and the ceremony went off without a hitch. The Ceremony was very touching as Abbie and Matthew had their high school high school minister as the celebrant. He knew them personally growing up so it was very personal and intimate

For creative photos we did not have to travel far. We just walked to the park and the beach which provided gorgeous Sunshine Coast wedding photos. It is no wonder people travel to get married here. The reception was at Parklands Tavern in the Birdcage room. It is an intimate room that is decorated with beautiful floral wallpaper and amazing birdcages hanging from the roof. The drinks flowed and there was much laughter and love in the room. It was an awesome day in Caloundra and is truly a spectacular place to get married.

Sunshine Coast DIY Home Wedding Photography

By | Weddings | No Comments

I had the privilege of photographing Emma and Kent’s wedding. They decided to have the wedding at their home here on the Sunshine Coast. They wanted a more intimate wedding that was more meaningful to them. They did a beautiful job with the decorations, planning, and creating an awesome ambience. I was there for the whole day and was impressed and touched at how both families and friends pitched in to get it ready for the Ceremony and Reception. I must say though, I think it’s a whole lot easier doing it somewhere else and it is not for the faint hearted.

The day was full of wonderful moments, however there was one that really stuck with me. Kent wrote Emma a letter that she read while she was getting her hair and makeup done. What made it truly special was one of her bridesmaids gave her a handkerchief that had been handed down from her Great Grandmother. When she read Kent’s letter she cried with emotion and wiped away the tears with that handkerchief. I was told the story of the handkerchief later that day. I have not included these images in this blog as it is quite personal but I was proud to be there to capture such a beautiful moment. It’s moments like these is why I am a wedding photographer.

The wedding went off without a hitch and there was a real feeling of love and friendship in the front yard where the Ceremony was. Getting to the reception was easy as walking down the back stairs. The backyard was beautifully decorated and everyone had a great time.  After some warnings of all care but no responsibility  during the speech from Kent’s dad about the dance floor that that he and Kent had built (insert laughs from the crowd here 🙂 ) the party began and everyone had a great time. I came away making new friends. Thank you for letting me be part of your day.

Sunshine Coast Wedding Headland Golf Club

Sunshine Coast Wedding at the Buderim Golf Club

By | Weddings | No Comments

Deannah and Jeremy’s Saturday wedding was at Buderim Golf Club with the Ceremony outdoors. After I had photographed the Groom and Bridal prep, I arrived at the golf club and met with Jeremy and his boys.  The staff were busy setting everything up for the ceremony when mother nature stepped in. We had basically been in drought for months but found ourselves looking at the radar on our phones at a massive storm heading in. The last minute decision was made to go to Plan B and move the ceremony undercover. I must say I really felt for Deannah and Jeremy. They went from a gorgeous outdoor wedding to undercover. To their absolute credit they later told me that they long ago decided that no matter what happened it would not affect their big day.

So with the Ceremony hastily moved undercover and completed, the storm to the west was not moving. We made the decision reorganise the day and get the formals done as quickly as we could. With rain spitting and with the help of the family we got through the family formals at the speed of a shopping centre Christmas Santa photographer. Not ideal, but we wanted to keep everyone dry and have the beautiful backdrop of the golf course for those photos.

The plan from the get go was that we would take some golf buggies and get some creative shots around the course with the Bridal Party. After much chin scratching, looking at the radar and anxious looking to the west it was Deannah that made the decision. She said that she was now married and she didn’t care about about the storm. The worst that could happen was she would get wet. Bless her. So we all jumped in the buggies and headed down to the golf course and got some photos. All of the bridal party were a hoot and we had a great time.

The rest of the day went off without a hitch. The reception was a beautiful affair filled with love and laughs. I felt privileged to have been lucky enough to photograph their wedding and feel I have left making new friends.
